Lesson 6
“MY DREAM”
Long ago, I wrote about dreams in my diary and decades later, my dream of opening my heart through music came true. Receiving messages of appreciation for my songs has brought me incredible joy. Even when I was in deep grief, I still allowed myself to dream. Not only did I wish for my departed loved ones to appear, I dreamt about healing. This was an antidote for my despair. True healing came when I exposed my innermost thoughts and opened my heart. This led to healing and my rediscovery of music. Because of my newfound passion, I felt inspired to compose a new song, which I named “My Dream.” The lyric line of “My dream will get me through” was a projection of coping. At that time I was overwhelmed from watching my parents’ decline, as well as navigating a difficult divorce. Dreams are universal and every person can hold onto them. I would love to inspire you to discover your personal hopes and desires.

lyrics

MY DREAM

Like the sky after sunset my dream still glows
A river of warmth, through my body it flows
Filling my soul, it makes me whole
Helping me cope, my dream gives me hope

Like shade in the summer, a misty spring rain
My dream is so soothing; it heals all my pain
Making me sure, then I'm secure
I may be low, but I’ll never let go

My dream it feels so certain; I wait behind a curtain
One day I’ll face the world’s embrace
And the message I’ll bring with joy when I sing
My dream is where I'm going; it’s all about my knowing
With courage I grew and I know it’s true
My dream will get me through

Like a rosebud’s petals, my dream will bloom
Surrounding my heart with its sweet perfume
I may be stressed; but my dream has me blessed
One day I see I'm soaring free

My dream it feels so certain; I wait behind a curtain
One day I’ll face the world’s embrace
And the message I’ll bring with joy when I sing
My dream is where I'm going; it’s all about my knowing
With courage I grew and I know it’s true
My dream will get me through

about

Judy Unger Los Angeles, California

I have been an artist all of her life. Although I played classical guitar in college, I left music behind when I was 21. 30 years later, I began writing songs to help me cope with the challenges in my life. Many of my songs are dedicated to my son, Jason, who died in 1992. I love to inspire hope of healing with my music, because my songs have certainly healed me of any pain. ... more
